My feeling right now is this place could use a little TLC. We all feel bad that we’re in the news for all the wrong reasons, we’re a bit like a pod of whales in a shallow sea, cut off from the ocean, you see the odd Blue whale washing up on the beach. That’s what this blog will be eventually, though there’s a lot of microplastics, and not much krill. The college is closed now but I still have to go to do painting the bind the students are in now is quite something I can tell you as only one or two are au fait with the concept of closed studios. Before all this I made regular trips to the capital to see the big west end shows at the V&A and Design Museum. Also Tate Modern but now the pandemic has gripped the nation instead, no go.
There’s loads of art galleries and micro museums that need attention! I now realise that I generally avoided the family home like the plague as it was always kind of run down. Whereas the temples of the arts and culture such as the Tate Modern look incredible, I’m really concerned about them! Some had been mothballed for years before Herzog & De Meuron were able to get things started, and then there’s the cost of the new extensions to these national treasures by the way, the Salisbury Wing, of the Nat by Venturi & Raunch. I visited shortly after it opened to rapturous acclaim in the AJ.
