Fantastic day, here a chance for the first time in a while to have a look at the site and I am quite surprised by what I saw. So I became more interested in garden, and a big part of that is walling of various styles, but still looking for a little bit extra! To sort of ‘happen’ as a wall is a very big thing, and it’s not just the case of being built, in an ad hoc way, no if you going to be someone in this place, you’ll need to have something very special, and to be handbuilt by a master craftsman is the dream of any self-respecting wall. So all the skill it takes is really a labour of love for me, and also a voyage in a crafted society, a very esoteric knowledge is presupposed when you go to design, to create, ideas of your own but just look around, and you see that a very different thing has occurred. Not just at Grenfell, but in many cities, and they are just very patchy, for some reason, various great examples are available for study, but then is it worth it? On a practical level, nobody alive today was actually involved with the planning of larger and more significant examples, that are often boundary markers, or barriers really between one tribe and another. They became so celebrated with the rise of Imperial Rome and Imperial Cathay, that led to a big expansion in crafted buildings, that ‘fenced in’ valuable resources presumably and kept the mongol horde at bay.
Good time to spend.
